Port Charlotte, FL – Fawcett Memorial Hospital’s very own Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services and area Medical Director of CV Surgery, Allesandro Golino, MD, has just returned from Venice, Italy where he presented at the National Society for Heart & Valve Disease’s 7th Annual Biennial Congress. The objectives of the national meeting are to undertake, promote, support and encourage research, and the education of the public, in the causes of heart valve disease. It’s also a focus on the prevention and treatment of heart valve disease or any related cardiac disease by top physicians around the country.
“It is an honor to be asked to speak at the Annual Biennial Congress and we are fortunate to have a physician of his caliber leading Fawcett Memorial’s Cardiac Surgery program,” said Tom Rice, CEO at Fawcett.
Golino, whose repair rate for mitral valves is among the best in the nation, currently about 96 percent, continues to educate local physicians and the public about the importance of earlier intervention for heart valve disease.
Fawcett continues the development of their new, state of the art open heart surgery program, scheduled to open in August. “The Fawcett team has worked extremely hard this past year to reach this goal and will continue to excel in providing outstanding cardiac care and treatment,” said Golino.
As the area’s only Accredited Chest Pain, Congestive Heart Failure, and Stroke Center, Fawcett has a long standing reputation for superior emergency room care and acute cardiovascular services. These accreditations mean the experienced cardiac response team operates with peak precision and speed and area residents will soon be able to receive more services and continued top-quality care.
