Port Charlotte, July 10, 2012 – CARF International (formerly Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) announced that Fawcett Memorial Hospital received accreditation for a period of three years for its Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.  This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization, and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

The Inpatient Rehab Unit at Fawcett Memorial Hospital celebrates it twentieth anniversary in 2012, and proudly remains the only CARF accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit in Charlotte County.  “It has been my pleasure to work with such a dedicated and professional rehab team, said Deborah Lakin, MBA, BS, OT, Director of Fawcett’s Inpatient Rehabilitation unit.  “The team on this unit continues to deliver the highest quality of care as required by CARF standards.  That fact is evidenced by yet another successful survey and subsequent accreditation achievement.”    Most of Fawcett’s Inpatient Rehab team members have over 12 years experience working together on the Rehab unit. “The Inpatient Rehab Unit at Fawcett Memorial Hospital is dedicated to returning patients to their highest level of functional independence and is truly an asset to our community,” said Lakin.

Patients may request an evaluation for possible admission to Inpatient Rehab from any hospital, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, or other home setting.  Dana Neal, RN, Fawcett’s Rehab Outreach Coordinator is available for more information regarding admission criteria or general information about the Inpatient Rehab Unit.  Dana may be reached at (941) 255-2379.
