Emergency care in Port Charlotte
Fawcett Memorial Hospital's 20-bed emergency room provides the North Port, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda communities with 24/7 ER care. Our facility has the most up-to-date emergency equipment and skilled personnel to deliver treatment when you need it most. Our highly trained ER doctors, nurses and staff provide 24–hour evaluation and emergency treatment for a wide variety of sudden and chronic illnesses as well as major and minor injuries.
We are nationally cardiac and stroke certified and are prepared with state-of-the-art life-saving equipment. We have been serving patients in Charlotte County since 1975 and currently treat more than 22,000 patients a year.

Accredited chest pain center
Fawcett Memorial Hospital has received recognition as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Our emergency room is prepared for heart emergencies, including heart attacks.
When a patient arrives at Fawcett Memorial Hospital with a suspected heart attack, he or she is within quick reach of the cardiac response team equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to diagnose and treat emergency heart conditions.
Primary stroke center
Fawcett Memorial Hospital is a primary stroke center accredited by The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, which accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
The stroke center is staffed by neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses and other specialists specifically trained to treat neurological emergencies.
