Port Charlotte, FL – Fawcett Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that it has received certification from DNV Healthcare as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events. This makes Fawcett Memorial Hospital the only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Charlotte County.
The DNV Healthcare Comprehensive Stroke Center certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and education – and established clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.
“We are excited to be the only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Charlotte County,” says Michael Ehrat, Chief Executive Officer at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. “Our program provides specialized care and treatment for any level of stroke and allows our Charlotte County residents to remain close to home for care, with the most complete neurological program in the County.”
Certified comprehensive stroke centers are typically the largest and best equipped hospitals in a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication.
“Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” says Patrick Horine, CEO of DNV Healthcare. “And it helps demonstrate to your community that you are performing at the highest level.”
