Port Charlotte, FL – Fawcett Memorial Hospital, an HCA affiliate, is proud to partner with the United Way of Charlotte County and Peace River Elementary School to provide school uniforms to Charlotte County students in need, and make sure that each and every student has the necessary supplies for success.
Through their ongoing efforts to eliminate poverty, United Way of Charlotte County shared news of Peace River Elementary School’s Back to School Carnival with the leaders of Fawcett Memorial Hospital. When CEO, Bill Hawley and team learned that many families needed help to purchase uniforms required by the school, Fawcett stepped up to help. Supporting local education is a centerpiece of the hospital’s community focus, as demonstrated by this donation.
“Fawcett Memorial Hospital is a cornerstone in the Charlotte County community and we look forward to partnering with the United Way of Charlotte County to give back each year. We are proud to be part of such a giving and philanthropic community. Education is one of our key values, and we are happy to help,” said Bill Hawley, President and CEO of Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
Carrie Blackwell Hussey, Executive Director of United Way of Charlotte County, emphasized that a large part of her organization’s work is dedicated to making connections in the community, so that the vision of a donor not only gets realized, but also helps recipients in the most efficient and effective way possible. “The donation of these uniforms goes a long way to show these students, teachers, and families that their community truly cares about them,” said Blackwell Hussey.
Fawcett also supports the Charlotte Local Education Foundations’ teacher and support employee of the month and year programs. In addition to the above listed support, Fawcett’s CEO, Bill Hawley, serves as a mentor with the “Take Stock in Children” initiative, as well as participates with Charlotte Local Education Foundation.
